After a few years of residency at Old Towns Roaring Donkey pub, our regular Wednesday night acoustic session (now under the stewardship of Jamie Hawkins) is on the move to a new home!
This week we have 3 top drawer shows for your aural pleasure. Check them out…
After a busy few weeks and then a bit of recovery time (The Shuffle really does take it out of you!) followed by an insane show from Empire it is back to business as per usual, with an Unplugged show at The Donkey and a band show at the Vic, featuring one of the real highlight bands of The Shuffle.
Cutting it fine this week, but hey, that is how I roll at the moment – with The Swindon Shuffle kicking off next week (eeek!) it is a rather busy time.Last week was a fairly important one in the development of Songs of Praise, with our Thursday show at Baila turning out to be something of a pinnacle moment for us, that kind of whole NYC Greenwich Village vibe we had been looking for. Hopefully this will be the first of many of this ilk. Anyway, what do we have for the listening public to get their ears round this week?
Following on from our restructure (full announcement coming soon) we have three shows this week, but they are three of the highest quality (of course). We have the usual excursion at The Donkey with the others taking place within the chilled environs of the wonderful Baila Coffee & Vinyl.
It is a much quieter week than normal this week, although, of course, the big show this week is our 10th anniversary show, so a bit of a mega milestone for us.
It is another busy week at SoP as we present 5 shows featuring 8 bands / artists (so far) across 3 venues, encompassing Americana, Folk-Pop, Gothic-Country, Acoustica, Alt-Rock and Blues-Roots. It is going to be another belter, basically.
We have so much cool music going on this week that I think I will launch straight into it, although it is worth a mention of our mini residency at The Beehive last week, which was superb. That pub is really a great home for anything more rootsy so hopefully there will be more there from us soon.
We bore witness to some fantastic and diverse music last week, ranging from the snarling punk of Ghost of the Avalanche to the smooth Americana vibes of Don Gallardo. All was brilliant. This week is no less jam packed with quality. We start as always at The Roaring Donkey, take in The Beehive and The Victoria and end up at The Locomotive.
OK, yes, kinda dropped a bollock or two this week. We are three gigs into the five we had on the slate. Yes FIVE! No wonder we are a bit late with this update. Oh well.
