The brilliant Oxford duo The August List have long been favorites of ours and we have managed to bag them for two shows this month – Sunday 4th June at The Golden Lion in Bristol (show starts at 4pm) and again on Thursday 22nd June at The Tuppenny in Swindon from 8.30pm. Both are free entry too!
n the second of our visits to The Beehive within the week we reacquaint ourselves with an old friend, a wandering troubadour from Texas who has been making regular sojourns to SoP for several years now and now makes two for us over the same weekend.
We make an always welcome return to The Beehive this week to host a couple of shows , kicking off on Thursday 4th May with something that is just a little, er, different as we welcome The Ranch to town.
Luckless, one of our favourite artists is coming back and playing for us at The Tuppenny on April 27th and we cant wait!
We finally welcome Jamie Hawkins back into the bosom of the SoP family for the first time since the Unplugged sessions twanged their last string late last year. This time however, rather than as a promoter, Jamie returns in his more regular guise as one of the most accomplished local singer songwriters on the circuit
On Thursday 16th March we present a line-up featuring two bands that take dreampop in two very different directions – similarly atmospheric, sweeping and melodic, but sounding vastly different in tone and disposition. The third piece of this musical puzzle adds a more bombastic, indie-guitar attitude to proceedings.
Our residency at The Golden Lion in Bristol hits month three and continues to go from strength to strength and this month we have a beauty. Sunday 12th March sees Oxford based troubadour Jonny Payne arrive with his band The Thunder.
It is always a good thing when a band take the classic sounds of yesteryear and bring them zooming back into our consciousness, but with their own, contemporary take on things. Therefore, we are really excited about being able to bring you the rather awesome True Strays, delta Rock & Roll revivalists and Bristol brethren born for blues fuelled, foot-stompin, late-night hoedowns.
Whilst a lot of what we do is small venue, laid back Americana and folk acoustica, we like a crazy show as much as the next man. So we are really looking forward to our next shindig at The Victoria as we present a very special show starring local “Punktronica” 3 piece Martyrials.
Once again, fate has conspired to give us two high class shows in quick succession at The Beehive, that bohemian watering hole on the margins of Old Town that we do so love. These Beehive shows really are like buses – nothing for ages, you turn your back and suddenly two of the buggers come round the corner.
