Those who remark that nothing musically different ever graces the Swindon circuit should take note that something musically unique is heading this way very soon. Fassine wander dream-pop landscapes, ambient minimalism and futuristic dance spaces, sonorous chilled alt-pop, ultra cool indie vibes and even neo-classical grandeur. They link the legacy of labels such as 4AD with one possible future for dance music and they will be at Level III on 26th October.
Local music buffs should also note that their second single from their current album, Gourami, was a re-working of XTC’s That Wave taken from the seminal album Nonsuch and the band and their version of the track feature in This Is Pop, the new XTC documentary airing on Sky Arts shortly.
‘We are big fans of XTC and ‘That Wave’ is a song so overflowing with ideas that we fell in love with it .The original has a wave-like feel and we wanted to see if we could do that too but in a much more chaotic and stormy fashion,’ say the band.
They are in town as guests of Hail. “Rising from the ashes of Polar Front, HAIL have taken everything that made that band great and further distilled it into something leaner, smarter and even more hauntingly beautiful.” is Western Audio studio boss Sam Bates take on them and he knows a thing or two about music.
So if the idea of elegant and eloquent, sonorous and ambient dream-dance grooves sound like a change from the norm, save the date and we will see you there.
