In early May we temporarily move into what is perhaps our favourite watering hole in town, The Beehive, for a bit of a mini roots residency. Part one features touring Nashville musician (and therefore the genuine real deal) Don Gallardo on Sunday 8th May (more on this soon). Part two is a super exciting prospect, as on Thursday 12th May we have managed to bag a show on the brilliant Gill Sandell‘s album launch tour. Many of you should recognise the lady as she has played for us before, accompanying the wonderful Emily Barker early in 2015.
But this week a poster she produced for the show announced she is arriving as a trio, with a couple of superb musicians prepped to accompany her. Cello, bass and banjo playing Jo Silverston was a fellow member of The Red Clay Halo, Emily Barkers band, and therefore has also played alongside Frank Turner, including at the Olympic opening ceremony. Also appearing is the excellent Ted Barnes, another regular collaborator though Gill’s solo career. Ted was in Beth Orton’s band, was part of the excellent Clayhill and has a couple of cracking solo albums of his own under his belt.
As if all of this wasn’t enough for you, as support we have managed to coax the mercurial Luke De-Sciscio out of a period of reflection for his first show in a long while. As one of our all-time favourite performers we are really looking forward to hearing what he has been up to.
Anyway, here is Gill’s poster, and Ed’s poster.
